[Editors include not only an Introduction to the book, but also to each of the 12 chapters, taken together a wonderful overview of Berry’s life and thought. Here is one among many profound insights from Berry: “All human institutions, professions, programs, and activities must now be judged primarily by the extent to which they inhibit, ignore, or foster a mutually enhancing human-Earth relationship (p. 165)].

Interview with Thomas Berry by Jane Blewett in which they discuss Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s philosophy. Berry discusses Teilhard’s three great contributions: (1) he told the story of the universe in an integral manner with four phases “Galactic, Earth, Life, Human,” (2) he identified the human as a dimension of the Universe from the beginning, and (3) he moved the essential Christian issue from the Redemption to the Creation.
